Guyanese born Gordon Andres set to release R&B MixTape

Born in Linden, Guyana, R&B newcomer Gordon Andres is trying to etch a name for himself in what is already a crowded market but he believes he brings something different to the table that could catapult his career.

Gordon began singing from the age of six, first in his home then at Church then at school in Mackenzie. He always had a love for soul and R&B music and says the passion that he has for music is responsible for the major step he is about to make.

When he migrated with his family to New York, education came first. He quickly moved through the US education system, graduating from college with a degree in Biomed. His parents wanted him to continue along the medical field to fulfill their dreams of having a doctor in the family but Gordon admits that he heard a much different call and began channeling his energies towards music.

“I would spend 12 to 15 hrs a day in the studio, just going over and over my music, trying to reach that near perfection.  I know I am not there as yet but I have a pretty good feeling I am on my way there” he says with a small grin on his face.

He never stands back from telling his story about his love and commitment to music. He told Gtvibes.com that “I would spend all my savings and all my earnings from my 9-5 on my music, totally on my music, on the band, on the studio, on the tracks. I really wanna get this. I must get this. This is me. This is my time”.

And so on March 19 at the Arena Lounge in Queens NY, Gordon gets his time when he launches his debut mix tape aptly titled “My Time”. He intends to make it available on his website GordonAndres.com for free download after the launching.

The website will be launched simultaneously and he is excited about that project too. “I want to make the website more than just a portal for my music. It’s being constructed by a young Guyanese web designer back in Guyana who I met on facebook through a friend and I am hoping he pulls out all the stops to make it user friendly the way it should be” he told us.

The mixtape launching is taking the style of a red carpet event.

A number of New York based music producers for some of the big record labels are expected to attend and so Gordon says when his time comes on the 19th March, he is going to put on a show like no other and he’ll be thinking about his home in Guyana where it all began for him and his passion.
