Mortimer ‘Natural Black’ Softley, a reggae singer from Guyana, is so talented that even in his adopted home land, Jamaica he could not go undiscovered. As he puts it “a light cannot be hidden in the darkest of nights.” He however remains true to roots and is often on the local shores encouraging the development of talents in the budding music industry.

Bim, Bam, Boom! Whoever gave this kid the break made a wise decision …hey that’s the name of this album.

Boasting fourteen tracks even the most recent of reggae enthusiasts can easily be swayed by Natural Black’s eclectic style and musical conversations in this new album. His subject area covers tapping into the higher power through “prayer”, “Guardian Angel” and “calling on him”. Natural keeps it real by encouraging all to “open your eyes” as he “buss new riddim”. His depth of world issues are examined through “life’s journey” and begs the question “What are you looking for” while another of his track makes it clear that “we don’t play” and another stresses the importance of “preserve my name”. He continues with “life’s journey and being a natural man taps in to his spirituality through “reaching out”. Further through “Music” that touches on the “careless Ethiopian” and boldly speaks to the “Heads of Government”. Ending on a high he encourages all through one track to “count your blessings.”

Produced and arranged in Guyana at the Brutal Tacks recording studios and mastered at Joao Carvalho mastering studios, Canada this album smacks at positivity, straight forwardness and in his words “…all who wants spiritual food can listen to me.” he assures that the hits will continue along as he has life.
