Miss United Nations visits President

Newly-crowned Miss United Nations Soyini Fraser received personal congratulations from President Donald Ramotar for making Guyana proud when she paid him a courtesy call at his office on Thursday.

In the company of promoters Carwyn and Nikosa Holland, Fraser, sporting her crown and sash, felt elated that President Ramotar like many other Guyanese “was proud that a Guyana-born queen could actually go to the United Nations pageant and emerge successful,” the Government Information Agency (GINA) said in a release.

She is the second Guyanese national to be crowned at an international pageant for 2012, after Alana Seebarran, who won the Miss India Worldwide pageant hosted in neighbouring Suriname.

The dedication, discipline and commitment she demonstrated, gave her sponsors the confidence that she is the right material to represent the country, and in the coming weeks, Fraser, will be at the centre of numerous ventures, according to Holland. The 22-year-old, who was the 2011 Miss Princess of the World, won the Miss United Nations crown at a pageant in the United States held during the period July 5 and 8, at which 52 beauties competed. She also won the Miss Guyana Earth in 2010 and copped the first runner-up in the Miss Guyana World pageant in 2011.
