Naya Zamana 17

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha will present its annual dance and theatrical production, Naya Zamana, on Saturday, September 1 at the National Cultural Centre.

In its 17th year, the event is expected to be one with a difference since it is inspired by Bollywood films and thus takes the form of a theatrical spectacular titled “Bollywood Dreams”.

As usual, in incredible colourful costumes, the cast of Bollywood Dreams tell a vibrant story of unlikely dreams, perseverance, and destiny, through the mediums of dance, drama, and music.

The story surrounds two childhood friends – played by the Dharmic Nritya Sangh’s senior dancers Indhira Harry and Zahrah Alli; one in relentless pursuit of her dream to become a big star in Bollywood and the other, a true romantic.

Naya Zamana will also feature stunning dance sequences choreographed by Dr Vindhya Persaud set to a mix of classical and new Bollywood tracks spanning several eras.  The show will showcase 65 talented young people and children.

Tickets for this production cost $2000 and $1500 and are available at the Dharmic Sanskritik Kendra, Red Mango on Robb Street, Bhagwan’s on Water Street, and the National Cultural Centre.
