KI to release two Groovy Soca tracks

Trinidad’s reigning International Chutney-Soca Monarch, Kris “KI” Persad and his band JMC 3Veni will in the coming two weeks release two groovy soca tracks. One was recorded on October 13 in Barbados at the studios of the production team known as the Red Boyz.

The other song is as you read this having the finishing touches done at the studio of Persad’s younger brother, Rich Persad. Manager of 3Veni, Varendra Persad said the groovy soca tracks will showcase the band’s versatility and ability to produce music beyond the realm of chutney and other styles of East Indian music.

“Remember, 3Veni was the first chutney band to crossover into the hard core soca arena over 20 years ago and we have been performing everything from soca to reggae dancehall for all the years. KI and the band are now seeking to record more original soca music along with chutney and chutney-soca.”

“They are quite versatile on stage performing covers of the most popular soca, the latest hits and also retro classics, but they are equally at home with creating new and original soca on their own”, Persad said. After the groovy soca tracks are released 3Veni will after a couple of weeks drop the first chutney-soca for 2013 as KI prepares to defend his Chutney-Soca Monarch title.
