The 23rd annual Kashif and Shanghai football tournament will run from December 16, 2012, to January 1, 2013. The final is billed for the National Stadium on New Year’s Day 2013, after which there will be a concert featuring Jamaican dancehall artist Mavado.
Matches will be played in various communities such as Uitvlugt, Beterverwagting and Buxton. The 16 teams have been drawn from the various sub-associations of the Guyana Football Federation.
Meanwhile, the Most Valuable Player of this year’s competition will drive away with a motor car, while the best coach will receive a motor cycle. The champion team will pocket four million dollars, while the runner-up will collect one million dollars, third $750,000 and fourth $500,000. In addition, each participating team will receive a complete set of playing uniform.
