Digicel Guyana on Thursday revealed plans for the company’s 2012 Christmas activities which will be held under the theme “Share a Smile”. Beginning on Friday, December 07, Digicel will slash prices on selected handsets by up to seventy percent for the holidays – which will see handsets being available from as low as $2,500 the lowest ever handset price offered by the mobile communications provider since launch on February 14, 2007.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Digicel Head of Marketing, Jacqueline James said “Digicel is delighted to give customers a reason to smile this Christmas. The lowest prices extends to the BlackBerry 9320 and 9360.”
The BlackBerry Curve 9320 is available for $40,000 while the BlackBerry Curve 9360 is available for $45,000. Persons who purchase one of these smartphones will also get one month free service. Handsets such as the Samsung E1205 and the Alcatel 296 will be sold $2,500. The Nokia 100 and 111 will be on sale for $4,000 and $8,000. All handset prices are inclusive of VAT.
“We decided to make this offer available for customers since mobile phones are among the most popular gifts for Christmas and other special occasions. Persons want to communicate with loved ones especially at Christmas time and with such great prices on handsets persons can stay connected,” James added.
Digicel will also continue its Christmas Cheer programme which will see the company hosting parties, presenting gifts, serving meals and spending quality time with children and the less fortunate across the country.
“Christmas is always a special time of the year for us. We usually give back to communities in which we serve through-out the year but we like to go the extra mile at Christmas. This year is no different; we will begin our Christmas Cheer programme on December 12 and this will run right up to Christmas Day,” James said.
Under it’s “Share a Smile” theme, Digicel will provide free bus rides, boat rides, mini concerts, stage shows and in-store promotions for customers for the festive season.
Digicel also announced they will release the Samsung Galaxy Mini for sale on December 20. Ahead of the release customers have a chance to win a family of 3 Galaxy handsets inclusive of the S3, Mini and Note 2.The competition which started on December 6 called Go Galaxy is in the form of a top up race.
Digicel Customers can win by simply topping up with $500 or more to collect the letters to spell GALAXY. The first 3 persons to collect all the letters and claim the prize will win all three handsets.
