The Miss Bartica Regatta 2013 pageant goes live on March 13, when eight delegates will take to the stage to compete for the crown. This year, the competition, once again, aims to attract girls between the ages of 16 and 25 from all regions of Guyana.
The organising committee stated, under a recent meeting, that the stakes have been raised a few notches, as up to a million dollars worth of cash and prizes and the experience of a lifetime are up for grabs.
Sonia Noel, Guyana’s fashion queen, has been brought on for consultancy and management. She noted that the calibre of delegates and the pageant experience this year will be unmatched. Internationally decorated beauty queen and model Meleesa Payne will be the official trainer of the delegates.
Preparations are already underway to ensure that no stone is left unturned and patrons are witness to one of the best pageants of the year.
The reigning queen, Ava Hicks, 2011, was crowned by her sister, Annece Hicks, the 2010 winner at the Bartica Community Centre, which also is the venue for this year’s event.
Events planned for the runup to the pageant include an exclusive swimsuit showcase in the tumbling waters of the Essequibo River, and visits to the tourism minister and president of Guyana. A special feature for the Miss Bartica Regatta 2013 pageant, which is under the direction of D&C Promotions, is a VIP lounge catering to sponsors, dignitaries, and organisers.
Auditions are set for January 27, at the Waterchris Hotel, in Georgetown, at 10:00h sharp. Interested girls are asked to contact Meleesa Payne on 695-6008, or John Quelch on 665-8010 or 226-3099 for more details and registration.
