Preparation for a successful Linden Town Week (LTW) 2013 has started as the Linden Town Week Planning Committee is looking to have all stakeholders actively involved in celebrating the town’s anniversary.
LTW Public Relations Officer Staydon Payne said that this year the committee is looking to have the event take a more cultural approach as compared to the activities of the previous years. He noted that since most activities are centred around the Mackenzie shore of Linden, this year the focus will be to have the Wismar shore become more inclusive.
“The dates that we’ve decided on for Linden Town Week 2013 are from Saturday, April 27 to May 6. To date, we have in excess 20 events slated for Linden Town Week 2013, and in many cases, there are events that would have happened in the past. We would like to see more events coming out of the Wismar shore, we’re asking people to still come in and speak to us concerning events at Wismar, we’re not restricting it to any particular day, but we want to have everyone involved in the celebration of the birth of the town,” he said.
Payne said the event is expected to feature an international entertainer as various promoters have expressed interest in several related activities. These, he noted, will boost economic and social activities within the mining town.
