Digicel Guyana Inc, yesterday, revealed its 2013 Mashramani costumes under the theme, “Call of the Wild”.
The costumes were created by designer Olympia Small-Sonaram, who was elated to be back with the phone company to create the right costumes to captivate the public’s attention.
The saucy and sensuous pieces definitely had those present at the launch raising their eyebrows and with the soca vibes that accompanied the display, they were undoubtedly getting their grooves on. The costumes were designed in various categories and from all indications, the “bigger girls” will get that opportunity to show off their shape.
Small-Sonaram said that half of the costumes are about birds and the other half about “creepy crawlers”. There are three sets of costumes. Small-Sonaram added that it took less than a month to put the costumes together and they are still working on the float but will complete it before Mash.
Digicel marketing chief Jacqueline James revealed that to get costumes, persons have to send a text message to 603-MASH complete with their names, and the first 120 persons to do so will be selected to be a part of the Mash band. She added that those on Facebook and Twitter can look out for the ‘blast’ to qualify for costumes.
The stage is set for one of the biggest Republic Day celebrations, with more than 30 floats being confirmed to hit the roads on February 23.
