Chris Gayle has collaborated with his older brother Vanclive ‘Father Bulla’ Parris to launch their new entertainment company called Dutty Fridaze Promotions. According to Parris, Dutty Fridaze promotions will host events plus manage recording artistes.
“We are going to operate as a record label and a promotions company. We have already signed two artistes: Face from Rising Stars and a youth named Gage from Clarendon,” Parris said.
He also said music has always been part of their family.
“We are trying to make good music. One of my other brothers is a recording artiste, so right now we just decided to put some energy into the music,” he said.
The record label has already produced a rhythm called ‘War Crime’ to be released in coming weeks.
“We are just getting started and sorting out the correct paperwork as it relates to licensing. We also have a water and foam party coming up in Clarendon for March. So it’s about getting the groundwork done. It’s an honour to be working with Chris Gayle, it makes my job easier, and when I took the business idea to him, he had no second guess,” he said.
Parris also hinted that the star batsman himself might be recording a song quite soon with an established recording artiste under their new label.
Meanwhile, Chris Gayle has said he is no stranger to the music industry.
“As a sportsman, I am always in the streets and I love the music, and I know a lot of artistes. So, this is not something I am new to. In the past, I have organised charity parties and events to raise funds for worthy causes. I have helped to raise funds to buy sporting equipment for schools all over the island. So, this is just a natural progression for me to get involved in other events and other aspects of entertainment by doing dancehall events and getting into artiste production and management. And plus, mi just want to endorse Bulla ting,” Chris Gayle said.
Dutty Fridaze Promotions handles bookings, artiste management, event planning and promotions. Its upcoming event, Clarendon Fun Day and Foam and Water Party, is slated for March 31.
The event will feature performances from Gyptian, Munga, Chi Ching, Tyrical, Face and Gage. Part proceeds of the event will be in aid of two separate charity initiatives.
