Trinidad’s number one crossover band, Karma comprising Ravi B, Nesha B and Gregory ‘tore the roof off’ the Guyana National Stadium on Saturday evening when the third edition of the “Clash of the Titans” super concert was held before a massive crowd.
The trio lived up to expectations. Their fans were out of control during their 45-minute presentation. Rocking tunes from the past and the present, the group without a doubt stole the evening. Sometime after 01:00h, following his introduction by WR Reaz, the Trinidadian sensation Ravi B and his band mates were the highlight of a fantastic evening.
The show started on time with the Guyana Police Force Band steaming up things with some melodious instrumental music. The bacchanal then started with Reshma Ramphal. Her voice and stage presentation kicked off a fabulous evening and set the right party tone, as she belted out some popular chutney tunes.
Next, Prince JP’s “No Curfew” boomed through the music boxes as the young heartthrob demonstrated his super moves and grooves. He performed some electrifying soca pieces. Seasoned chutney singer Rakesh Yankarran – known for his hot chutney rhythms, was up next. He was exceptional, pulling the right notes in the right song that had patrons twirling. His outstanding voice was absolutely enjoyed by all.
Terry Gajraj, with a Golden Arrowhead in his hands, took to the stage next and as usual he dished out some of his popular tunes that had the patrons wining their waists and screwing the “bulb”.
Mr Bachelor, Rick Ramoutar continued with the same vibes, prompting his fans to behave badly.
After Karma delivered, taking to the stage was Guyana’s six-time road March king, Adrian Dutchin.
The JMC 3Veni Band put on a show-stopping performance, with the lead singer KI accompanied by Nishard and for the first time in Guyana, Ranjeev and Saleem “Stinky” Beharry. During his hour-long presentation, KI saw his fans enjoying his tunes “Friends for the Night”; “Single Forever”; “Catch Sunita” and other popular songs. Some of them forgot that they were wearing heels until they were tossed in a corner.
The show came to a halt just after 03:00h, but persons continued to party long after to the tunes of Karma and JMC 3Veni. In the end, the clash of the titans was really between two well-recognised chutney soca bands in the Caribbean: Karma and JMC 3Veni.
