Those who turned up at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, East Bank Demerara on Saturday evening to be part of Pulse Entertainment’s second annual Cooler Fete were treated to some high energy performances by KES The Band, as the group appeared at the venue for the first time.
The band led by Kees Dieffenthaller was the headline act of the evening and without any doubt, he performed to perfection. He took to the stage about 02:00h and fully engaged his fans for an hour with some of his hits such as “Wotless”, “Wining On All Things”, “Thief and Wine” and “Head on”.
During his presentation, he dished out several hits from various genres of music, including reggae, dance hall and a touch of chutney. Halfway into his presentation, Kees ripped off his shirt to the pleasure of the ladies who were present.
The soca star also took time to mingle with his fans in the VIP section as he performed with energy, style, and charm. He told his fans that it was his first time at the Guyana National Stadium and thanked them for their support and for braving the weather.
Despite the threat of the weather, partyholics came out in their numbers with their coolers and drinks to have a grand time. By 22:00h, the patrons were trickling in, and after an hour, the crowd grew significantly.
In the meantime, Selector Diamond from Fusion Sound System and Deejay Ryan from Pulse Entertainment kept the early birds warm with a variety of music.
The show got underway about 23:15h with Trinidad number one crossover band, JMC3Veni and their headliners, Kris Persad (KI) and Nishard. They both set the tone for the evening with exciting and lively performances.
Tunes such as “Womaniser”, “Single Forever”, “Friends For The Night”, and “Catch Sunita” boomed through the speakers of the Fusion Sound System, sending fans into frenzy. During their time on stage, KI and Nishard also performed versions of JW Blaze’s “Palance”, Ravi B’s “Prescription”, and Bunji Garlin’s “Ready Fuh Road” to the satisfaction of their fans.
As usual, KI partied with his fans in the audience. The duo’s performance set the stage for Shal Marshall, who had the huge task of keeping the vibes going. He opened his performance with his popular tune, “Gal Want Motorbike” which saw his fans in the general admission getting on bad.
With their drinks in hand, Marshall’s fans enjoyed every minute of his performance as he dished out tune after tune. He was accompanied by Olatunji and other artistes who added some flavour to the performance.
Saturday evening was the first time Olatunji performed in Guyana and evidently it was a smashing performance.
Marshall and Olatunji spent about 30 minutes dishing out hit after hit to please the audience. By this time, the crowd has reached a euphoric state: they were either intoxicated or hyped. The well-behaved crowd went berserk as the emcee of the evening WR Reaz announced the next band to perform.
The sound of Kees’ voice created a whirlwind before his fans even saw him. During his performance, he was joined on stage by 5Star Akil out of Trinidad who contributed to the excitement. Just before Kees sang his last song, there were some technical difficulties.
Pulse Entertainment has yet again pulled off an incident-free and successful Cooler Fete. Security was at its best.
