Corona beer launched in Guyana

Corona beer, made in Mexico, was officially launched on Friday evening at the Palm Court by Top Brandz Distributors.

Chief Executive Officer Wayne James said: “We are happy to market the beer and add a new taste with a new meaning to the word lime, commonly served in the neck of the bottle to add flavour.”

He expressed his gratitude to the business community, and stated that it was only with the support from government that the company went ahead with this new investment.
Corona, which has been sold in Guyana for some time now, was formally welcomed to the Guyanese market by acting Tourism Minister Irfaan Ali.

He pointed out that the investment signals the beginning of a new relations ship.
“We have an economy that is free and open where any product, any country can participate in our economy and I think tonight is a celebration of the trade between Mexico and Guyana and I hope that this is the beginning of a strong trade relation.”

He expressed hope that the relationship would not only see products from Mexico being imported but Guyana’s products being marketed there.

Ali noted that such relations would help to provide a variety of choices to both the local consumers and tourists.

Mexican Ambassador Francisco Olguin deemed the venture a great one and wished the investors success.

“The most important thing with the partnership with Corona Beer is that trade links between Mexico and Guyana are being developed and it should grow both ways. I would hope that not only people in Guyana would enjoy Guyana but also Mexican people would enjoy the finest rum in the world, which is Guyanese.”

Corona Extra is a pale lager produced by Cervecería Modelo in Mexico. It is one of the top-selling beers worldwide. Outside of Mexico, Corona is commonly served with a wedge of lime in the neck of the bottle to add tartness and flavour.
