The 16 finalists in the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Limited jingle and song competition will have to wait a while longer for their grand performances since the finals which were scheduled for May 19 at the National Cultural Centre has been postponed.
News coming out of the telephone giant stated that they are still waiting on an available date for the use of the venue thus a date has not been finalized Now with a delayed date for the finals, the grand finale which was slated for June 1 will also be affected. The new dates will be announced in due time.
Two weeks ago the finalists were revealed on the National Communications Network Channel 11 which saw six of the 10 from the Bollywood segment advancing to the finals while 10 from the 15 in the English segment raced into the finals.
While the decisions were not favored by the general public, it was based on the amount of votes they would have received individually.
Those who made it to the finals in the Bollywood segment were Devchandra Ramrattan, Reshma Persaud, Bibi Halima Khan, Denishwar Bisessar, Yeataindra Singh and Andy Rambarack.
Those who made it in the English segment were Neil Maraj, T’Shanna Cort, Diana Chapman, Natasha Yhap, Lerone Souvenir, Edward Perez, Ryan Hoppie, Darren Benjamin, Lemuel Chestor and Michael Small.
