Diva Charmaine Blackman will grace the cover of the 58th edition of GEM which hits the newsstands shortly.
Blackman, hot off her recent marriage to long-time partner singer and producer Bonny Alves and finishing her second stint as a GT&T Jingle & Song competition judge, continues to increase her fan base through her performances and fashion choices. Her 20 years in the music business also helps to add credibility to her input in the industry.
Even though the songstress has been featured multiple times in GEM, she has not appeared on its cover before. Charmaine can be seen on the August / September cover decked out in a white naval stripped dress with matching hat and white shoes.
In one of her answers from a question relating to how she handles her critics, she responded: “At first I used to lose sleep over it because some of it was unfair, based on hearsay and people were just following the crowd; but with time I learnt to deal with it and now I just GI DEM MO FUH TALK!”
GEM, a bi-monthly glossy magazine which has been Guyana’s definitive lifestyle and entertainment source since 2004, in a brief statement said that Charmaine was chosen mainly because of her longevity and her ability to remain relevant in an era of flavour-of-the-month artistes that don’t last.
