Guyana Fashion Week UPDATE

Guyana Fashion Week kicks off this year with a phenomenal casting held at Water Chris, last weekend. Over one hundred models vied to be included in the training workshops conducted by the Caribbean’s Next Top Model’s fashion guru, Richard young.

This year sees the grand return of this fashion festival carded for October 20th to 27th, 2013. Guyana Fashion Weekend transforms this year to become Guyana’s first Fashion Week, a biennial event, incorporating all the Arts – culinary, performing and visual – to celebrate Caribbean style with a Guyanese identity.

This anticipated event on the annual calendar has always rallied extraordinary participation from the youth, all benefiting from the workshops in the lead up to the event. The second longest lasting fashion expose of its kind attracts not only an outpouring of local creative talent but woos regional interest and Caribbean style from the Diaspora.
Another casting is carded for the 28th July, 2013 and a distinctive tribute is in store for the launch at Herdmanston Lodge on the 4th August, 2013.

Sonia Noel is fascinated by the diversity within the model line up, so far, and in her effort to be all inclusive saw it fit to schedule this other casting for those who may have missed the opportunity to be part of the upcoming milestone event.Check out the Guyana Fashion Week facebook page for updates on activities.
