‘I held up my part of the agreement, and despite promise after promise and deadline after deadline that he failed to meet, the only recourse left for me is through the courts.’
Dancehall artiste Mavado has retained a team of lawyers and is plotting to sue a prominent politician for breaching an agreement they made for the purchase of a house in an upscale community.
According to Mavado, the politician agreed to sell him the house of which he (the politician) is the owner. However, after he (Mavado) made several payments to the politician, he is yet to receive any solid documents of ownership from the agreement.
The artiste therefore wants the politician to hand over the house or return his money. The name of the politician is yet to be revealed because of the legalities involved. However, the artiste says a name will be released to the public based on the advice from his lawyers.
“I held up my part of the agreement, and despite promise after promise and deadline after deadline that he failed to meet, the only recourse left for me is through the courts,” Mavado said.
Mavado also did an interview on Irie FM in which he revealed that the politician was paid for the house over three years ago.
“I gave this politician a lot of money for this house for my mom. An it’s like over four years now and this man never call me one day and tell mi how mi house a guh, and mi cyah get mi house all now and this man is a politician. Mi cyah understand him. mi nuh know wey him a deal wid. How yuh a guh have a ghetto youth money for so much years now and yuh know yuh have mi money and yuh supposed to deliver? He continued: “Mi woulda prefer get mi money and guh share it up with mi friend dem and drive pon di road and give it weh to some people before mi mek him have mi money and mi cyah get back mi money. Years now and I have been waiting. Right now my legal team getting the paperworks together,” Mavado said.
