Shawn English releases new single

Guyana Telephone and Telegraph jingle star, Shawn English has released his newest single on The Focus Project Compilation Album called “Standing Firm”; a dancehall/gospel song which was written by Dennon Lewis and himself. It was recorded at Vision Recording Studios.

The original idea for ”Standing Firm” came after an all friends hang went down at the Church of Christ instrumental (on Hadfield Street) sometime in 2010.song
Shawn English stated “It was here that I was exposed to the talents of Dennon Lewis. We were just free styling and doing all sorts of crazy dancing when the track for Standing Firm (Beast Riddim) came on. I was immediately inspired and the hook was birthed”.

He further stated that a couple of guys tried their hand at some lyrical renditions but it was Dennon who did the job. “After the hang, we listened to some of the audio recorded and we decided to do a song together using the hook”.

The song itself advocates for us to stand firm on the word of God despite our trials and problems. It also encourages listeners to look out for each other and it’s a catchy way to represent your faith. It’s good for fitness walks, parties, events or just regular good old listening.

Along with this song, there is now a new video that further draws the fans into the World of Christ church, which is represented by Shawn E and DC (Dennon Lewis).
The video was produced by the Red Sparks Media team in July of 2013 and was pre-launched on several television stations via prime time playing and direct interviews.

It encourages viewers to stand up for what they believe in despite the negatives and obstacles that may stand in their way. Its main message is for us to hold on to God’s word because it represents truth and to live by the principles that Jesus taught us… stand up and be counted.
