The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Digicel Guyana which will aid in strengthening the relationship between the ministry and the telecommunication company for the hosting of the National Drama Festival (NDF).
The NDF which is currently in its third consecutive year with Digicel Guyana being the major sponsor from the inception is an initiative to promote local talent and exhibit Guyana’s culture through an art form.
Digicel Head of Marketing Jacqueline James said the company would like to ensure that it gives the ministry the full support needed for the festival, which is all about youth development, culture and showcasing talents.
“The signing of this MoU signifies our strength and our continued commitment to the development of people in this country… we just want to ensure that as we move on each year that we continue to grow this relationship,” she said.
The third annual NDF was launched in June this year and the preliminaries will begin next month, with the finals being held from November 11-19 at the National Cultural Centre (NCC).
