Bob Marley has once again made Forbes Magazine’s list of top-earning dead celebrities.
According to the latest list from the respected financial publication, the reggae icon is in the top five with Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Charles Schulz (of Peanuts cartoon fame) and John Lennon.
Jackson topped the field with earnings of over US$160 million. Marley rounded out the top five with $18 million.
According to Forbes, “The iconic reggae singer might find it strange that his name has become part of a capitalist enterprise. There are Bob Marley speakers and messenger bags as well as a line of Bob Marley drinks that come in ‘mellow mood’ and ‘one drop’ (A.K.A. coffee).”
Marley whose legacy includes a number of outstanding albums for Island Records, died from cancer in May, 1981 at age 36.
