GT&T presents one million dollars to Georgetown Hospital

GT&T recently presented one million dollars to assist the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation with an enhancement initiative.

The Handing-over of this one million dollar cheque to the GPHC by GT&T marks the beginning of what both parties hope will be a meaningful and long-lasting relationship.

GT&T’s Marketing, Sales and Public Relations Director, Roma Narayan-Singh said GT&T was pleased to make the contribution to enhance the ambiance of the hospital as part of the telephone company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

GPHC’s CEO Michael Khan lauded GT&T’s support pointing out that the contribution will have a significant impact in assisting the Corporation with this initiative.

The donation will kick-start the hospital’s drive to enhance its immediate surroundings particularly the New Market entrances. It will cover the cost of landscaping the area on either side of the street, painting and putting up signage to indicate no parking, no stopping, drop-off, and keep clear zones.

It has also enabled the hospital to deal with the problem of private cars that blocked the entrances and whose drivers molest persons, and to recognise as authorised by the hospital, drivers of 11 taxis who have a long standing relationship in providing transport from the hospital.

New Market Street from Thomas to East Streets is now closed to minibuses and is a total no-parking street. The public will be advised and educated to use the Hospital’s East Street Car Park area (between New Market and Middle Street). The Hospital will be seeking the assistance of the Police Traffic Department and the Georgetown City Council to enforce these decisions.

GT&T is also committed to a number of initiatives aimed at recognising the invaluable commitment and services that the hundreds of hospital doctors, nurses and other staff give to the nation.

GT&T wishes the GPHC and all its employees all success in their future endeavours.
