Tessanne Chin on Monday night climaxed her performance in the American talent show ‘The Voice’ with a riveting rendition of Whitney Houston’s I have Nothing.
Earlier, Tessanne performed two other songs Try by Pink and a duet Let it Be by the Beatles, with her coach Adam Levine.
Monday night’s final also saw three renditions from contenders Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee.
However, for Tessanne’s coach Adam Levine, she was the stand-out.
“Everything you do just draws me in. Your ability is extraordinary and I revel in it all the time. I think the talent you have is exceedingly rare. You are one of the most genuine and loving people I have ever met,” Levine stated after Tessanne’s performance of Try.
There was also a light moment as host Carson Daly read a tweet from a fan asking whether Adam had picked up the Jamaican accent from spending time with Tessanne.
“No Mon” he jokingly replied.
The duet with Adam created a social media firestorm.
Clad in black and white, both delivered an emotional rendition with a Reggae vibe to the song, much to the delight of fans.
British journalist Piers Morgan joined the Twitter party: “Beat dem bad @Tessanne”, he tweeted.
However, at the end of Tessanne’s performance of Houston’s song, Coach Adam was left speechless.
“I have no thoughts right now, just emotions. I keep being thrown off kilter by how you do this. That song was almost impossible to replicate and each time we have to ask, ‘where is the ceiling for Tessanne’. You continuously blow me away. I know in my mind and in my heart you are the winner of this show,” Adam stated.
