The Georgetown Football Association (GFA) has secured the Guyana National Stadium for the hosting of its Banks Beer Cup final and and an after concert featuring Jamaican artiste I-Octane this evening .
Executives of the association made the disclosure during a press briefing on Tuesday at the venue.
In the opening game at 19:00 hours, the Guyana Defence Force will take on Western Tigers, while in the final, Slingerz FC will tackle Santos FC at 21:00 hours. The champion team will pocket $4 million.
The runner-up, third and fourth placed finishers will collect $2.5 million, $1.5 million and 1 million respectively.
A new addition to this year’s tournament was the monetary incentives for all the teams, including $250,000 each for the losing quarter-finalists, $150,000 each for those knocked out at the second round and $100,000 each for teams booted at the first round.
There are also individual prizes for the Most Valuable Player, highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper and most discipline team. The most outstanding coach will pocket $100,000 cash.
Each association also received 20 percent or a maximum of $250,000 as gate receipts after expenses from all games played in their jurisdiction.
Admission to the games $1500.
