Chronixx is high on the short list of Jamaican entertainers who made an impact in 2013.
Despite a serious slump in record sales and tour dates for reggae and dancehall acts, many hailed the 20-year-old roots singer as a genuine star.
After his performance at the recent Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in Trelawny, Chronixx said last year was filled with memorable experiences.
“I met so many people, visited many places and learned so much that I look forward to implementing the benefits of these experiences during 2014…. It just makes me want to work harder in 2014.” he said.
Chronixx points to his European summer gigs as a standout.
“If I have to single out one event during this tour it would be the BBC1 Xtra concert in Leeds, England. Everything about this event was great — big stage, bright lights and amazing sound. It truly made a statement,” he said, adding that 2014 has begun positively.
“It has started on a great note. I had the pleasure of performing at the Blue Note Club in Manhattan with Jamaican greats Monty Alexander and Ernie Ranglin. Great way to start the year,” said Chronixx.
Despite demand for him overseas, there are no plans for a studio album.
“We can’t speak to that just yet. Right now, I am just concentrating on dropping great singles and hope the people continue to love the music. I am also looking forward to taking the music to the people both near and far.”
Previously known for songs like Behind Curtain, Chronixx capped 2013 with the hit ballad Smile Jamaica, produced by the German duo Silly Walks Discotheque.
