Kwasi Ace Edmondson was way ahead of the competition at this year’s Carib Soca Monarch, with his song “Still in the game”. It was by far the best song in the competition and most people had him to win from day one.
Jumo Primo placed second with his song “on the road”. He had a great performance as usual however, he did not bring anything different to the competition. Jumo is definitely one of the best that we have to offer, but he should not get too comfortable in that role.
Bones Man placed third with his song “Blow”. Former Monarch Bonesman was able to pull off a safe performance and capture the 3rd spot. His onstage performance was good and that did the trick for him. He has always been energetic and clearly knows how to get the audience going, but you’ve got to give him props for thinking way outside of the box.
Lil red placed 4th with “who we are”. Lil Red has been very consistent ever since joining the Carib soca monarch, with producing the best written songs… his lyrical content has always been and remains very high. However, he would always fall apart on stage. Last evening, he got off to a rocky start but was able to recover and ended with a spectacular performance.
The best newcomer was Kemiana Garnette with her ‘designated winer song’.
