Digicel Guyana on Thursday launched its Mobile Advertising Service in the form of a presentation by Mobile Advertising Manager Alexis Crawford to the business community at a lively ceremony at the Pegasus Hotel.
The main objective of the event is to educate the business community on the advantages of using the service when compared to the other medium of advertising.
Crawford told the gathering that in an evolving world, technology is becoming more advanced, and as such, must be utilised in a more effective manner.
With the new service, she explained that Digicel can promote their businesses by pressing a button that will reach over 250,000 Digicel subscribers on their network for as low as $0.48 a message.
The manager added that with the new service, messages are disseminated to the advertisers’ target audience. She explained that if an advertiser wants to target any geographic location in Guyana, it can be done once the request is made.
“If you have a business in Bartica, Linden, and Georgetown and want to advertise a product, Digicel can send the messages to the mobile phone of those who were registered in the particular area,” she added. This way of advertising, she noted is building a relationship with customers and subscribers.
She also added that the service will soon be enhanced, which will see advertisers getting the opportunity to sent short videos and even pictures of the product they wish to advertise. This service is referred to as MMS.
Those who wish to sign up for the service would be required to pay $150,000 to send one message that will be sent to 250,000 Digicel subscribers. The 250,000 subscribers are listed as full base.
For those who wish to send only to Georgetown subscribers, they are required to pay only pay $135,000.
The price is reduced if the advertisers send more than two messages per month. Crawford further stated that the messages have to be appealing to customers, hence, precision is necessary.
Digicel Chief Executive Officer Gregory Dean encouraged those present to take advantage of the services and guarantee that it is the most effective way of advertising.
He added that once the market become liberalised, the company will be expanding its services to their customers, noting that presently Mobile Advertising is a wonderful tool in terms of targeting customers. He is also optimistic that sooner or later, Guyana will benefit from a 4G network.
