The annual Miss Emancipation queen pageant will once again be held at the National Cultural Centre on Sunday 24 August, 2014.The theme for this year’s pageant is “Go Natural” and several delegates have already embraced it and will be sporting their natural hair. The delegates will be competing in the following categories:
- Introduction: will take the format of spoken words on an Emancipated woman
- African wear
- Talent piece
- African Evening wear
- Questions and answers.
They have been involved in several activities including a series of lectures on African Guyanese history and culture by Dr. Ng-A-Que of Cuffy 250 committee and Dr Joycelyn Loncke of Pan African Movement. These sessions are being hosted by the Museum of African Heritage.
The organizers of this year’s pageant are DR. Melissa Varswyk, Ambolika Mrs.Belle. Mr. Paul Carter, Miss Emancipation 2013 – Miracle Hilliman and other past delegates. The show will once again be hosted by Mondale Smith while Russell Lancaster is the Artistic Director.
