ALKALINE has earned nominations from three music organisations. The deejay is nominated for Best Reggae Act in the Music of Black Origin (MOBO); Best Discovery in the first Indies Live Music Awards (ILMA) in St Maarten and Best New Entertainer in the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
Alkaline did shows in Belize in September and is booked for dates in Antigua, Suriname, Barbados, Panama, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The artiste, who is known for hits such as Live Mi Life, Things Mi Love and 1,2,3, addressed media reports that he has been banned from some Caribbean countries.
“Alkaline is free to visit and perform anywhere in the world right now. I am not banned and have never been banned from any territory,” he said. “Frankly, the issue is that most religious groups have expressed their concerns about my character and the type of music that I do. However, I am who I am and if they feel my music alone can negatively affect their people, then their faith is rather weak.”
How it Feel, Alkaline’s latest video, will be released shortly.
