Machel wins Soul Train Music Award

After three nominations, Machel Montano can finally add a Soul Train Music Award to his collection.

The soca star on Friday night received the award for Best International Performance at the star studded event at the Orleans Arena stage in Las Vegas, USA, online news service Loop reported yesterday.

Montano’s win for “Ministry of Road” is the second consecutive win at the Soul Train Music Awards for soca. Last year Bunji Garlin won the award for “Differentology”.
Montano expressed his gratitude in an Instagram post.

“The 3’s have it! 3rd time’s a charm! In the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, I give thanks!!!! Trinidad and Tobago this one is for u! Thank u to the creator, my Parents and brother, my Kids, my friends, fans and supporters! All those who voted and played a role this is a triumphant moment for us, for soca for T&T and the Caribbean. We did it again! To all those behind the Ministry Of Road!!!! I give thanks!”

In addition to receiving the award, Montano was also a presenter. He documented every moment of his experience via his instagram account.

Montano’s award comes just weeks before his 40th birthday. Montano has also received three first round nominations for the Grammy Awards and is also nominated in four categories for the Live Music Awards in the Caribbean. Montano is nominated for: Best International Ambassador, Best Male Artiste, Best Live Performance and Best Song of the Year for EPIC, Loop reported.

The Soul Train Music Awards will be aired on November 30 on BET.
