TANESHA ‘Shorty’ Johnson, common-law wife of incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel, is dispelling rumours that the entertainer suffered a heat stroke and was rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), earlier this week.
A recent photograph of the deejay in handcuffs, in what appears to be a doctor’s office, created a social media frenzy and speculation about the artiste’s health.
However, in a recent interview, Johnson said Kartel did visit the hospital but is fine.
“He is okay. It was just a regular doctor’s visit. His health is perfect,” she said.
Johnson, who currently operates the label Short Boss Muzik, also oversees the business side of Vybz Kartel’s music.
Vybz Kartel (given name Adidja Palmer) is currently serving a life sentence following his murder conviction in relation to the death of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in April last year. He will be eligible for parole after 35 years.
Kartel’s co-accused, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell and Kahira Jones, are to serve 25 years before they are eligible for parole, while Andre St John will do 30 years before qualifying for eligibility. The entertainer’s defence attorney has, however, filed an appeal.
Despite his incarceration, Kartel’s music continues to be in demand.
