The IZWE Emancipation magazine will be hitting the newsstands in time for Emancipation celebrations this year, a press release from the publisher of the magazine Corbin Media Group (CMG) has announced.
IZWE, an annual full colour magazine was launched in 2011 as part of The International Year for People of African Descent celebrations. The magazine got its name from a Zulu word meaning people or nation. It chronicles the struggles, tragedies and triumphs of Africans locally, regionally and internationally through thought provoking features and images.
The CMG release reiterated that the magazine has no racial or political agenda, and its goal to bring forth segments of Guyana’s history to a new generation of readers has not change over the years. Carefully researched information is presented in an easy to read format.
The fifth edition of IZWE has on its cover, a portrait of Guyana’s 8th executive President, Brigadier David A. Granger superimposed on a map of the country. A special feature on the new head of state is also in the magazine.
Some of the other exciting topics covered are the International Decade for People of African Descent, Hopetown Village on the West Coast Berbice, Emancipation celebrations in Guyana, a world-wide calendar of events, an up and coming fashion designer and much more.
CMG also thanked all its sponsors and supporters who helped make this edition possible by stating; “It is through your vision and open-mindedness that we are inspired to work even harder to make the magazine better.”
The glossy IZWE magazine will be available at Austin’s Book Services, Church Street; Rubis Service Station, Mandela Avenue; Shell Service Station, Vlissingen Road and German’s Restaurant on New Market Street for GY$1,000. You can also contact IZWE at 233-3138 or 233-2940.
