Miss Emancipation 2015 Pageant

The Miss Emancipation Pageant is set for this evening Friday, August 14 at the National Cultural Centre and will see seven beauties competing for the title. The delegates vying for this year’s title are Akelia Dey, Jade Primo, Jalicia Thompson, Zineoby Ward, Vonette Peters, Deon Allen and Keisha Jackson.

The event will be a red-carpet one that features delegates drawn from as far as Linden, competing in five segments.

These segments include education, cultural awareness, community projects, question and answer and a rich afro-influenced fashion display.

The young ladies who are between the ages 17 and 24, and are Guyanese of African ancestry, will seek to inspire, educate and bring about awareness regarding the African culture.

The President of the Miss Emancipation committee, Dr Melissa Varswyk, explained that, this year the delegates will be executing a community project which ranges from refurbishing a bridge in Sophia to designing a safe swing for children who are physically challenged. The delegates during their introduction will further outline each project undertaken.

Tickets for the pageant are available at the National Cultural Centre and will cost $1000 and $2000.
