Konshens doing well in Europe

POLICEMAN, the collaboration between Dutch singer Eva Simons and deejay Konshens, has been certified double platinum in The Netherlands for sales of over 60,000 copies.

Additionally, the single recently went gold in neighbouring Belgium for sales of 15,000 copies.

Produced by Sidney Samson and promoted by Jamaican Rodney Hill, Policeman was released five months ago.

It went number one in Suriname and Israel; number seven in France and The Netherlands; and number 60 in Austria.

Konshens is upbeat about the progress of the song and its recent certifications.

“I’ve done a few collaborations with EDM artistes before, but on this one we really managed to hit the target. I’ve always loved Eva’s voice, and when I heard the beat I definitely wanted to do it,” he said.

Humphrey van der Klaauw, general manager for Amsterdam-based Powerhouse Music, the company which released Policeman, spoke about the song’s success.

“Ever since we released Policeman, it has been a huge success in many countries. The song is still gaining momentum in many more [countries],” he said.

Simons, who is big in European Electronic Dance Music circles, had a massive hit in 2010 with Take Over Control (credited as Afrojack featuring Eva Simons). That song sold over one million copies in the United States and peaked at number 24 in the United Kingdom.

Her subsequent hits include This is Love featuring Will I Am of the Black Eyed Peas, which went to number one in the UK, Belgium, and Ireland.
