Guyana’s representative at the Miss World Pageant Lisa Punch has departed Guyana to participate in the highly anticipated Miss World Pageant slated for December 19 in China.
Lisa Punch left on Wednesday and will be spending some time in New York before she heads to China. She is expected to arrive in China on November 19.
According to reports, the beauty ambassador is excited to be representing Guyana on an international pageant stage. However, with little or no experience in pageantry, she hopes to do Guyana proud. She is hoping to follow the footsteps of Rafieya Hussain and hopes to be placed in the top 10.
Her gowns for competition night are being designed by Guyanese designer, Michelle Cole who now resides in the USA while her national costume is being done by another Guyanese designer Roger Gary. The reigning queen will be competing in several segments including talent, swimwear, sports, multi-media and more importantly, beauty with a purpose project.
Punch will be focusing on the scourge of suicide among teenagers and possible prevention. During her stint in Guyana, the former Rising Star contestant held several lectures on the topic is several schools and clubs around the country.
She will be competing with at least 84 other contestants and her aim is to bring the title home.
