SUMMERJAM, the annual hip-hop and Rhythm & Blues stage show promoted by New York’s radio station Hot 97 FM , felt the effects of dancehall artiste Konshens recently.
On his maiden performance at the event, Konshens delivered a performance worthy of mention.
“It was a great vibe. The atmosphere was tremendous,” said Konshens.
The dancehall artiste reeled off an impressive performance riddled with hits such as Gal a Bubble, Do Sumn, Bad Gal, and Bruck Off Yuh Back.
While at Summerjam, Konshens hung out with a few celebrities, including pop singer Chris Brown, who is featured on the remix of Bruck Off Yuh Back.
The artiste is enjoying success with Front of the Line, a song produced by Major Lazer and featuring Machel Montano, which is currently the soundtrack for a television campaign by Bacardi Rum. The song is also on the new Major Lazer EP Front of the Line, which is currently number one on the Billboard Reggae album chart.
“It feels good to have your song featured in a major television advertising campaign in the US. More positive moves for myself and Jamaican dancehall music,” said Konshens.
He explained how the collaboration with Major Lazer came about.
“Between Major Lazer and my management team, the move was made. I was in Los Angeles and stopped by Diplo’s studio and that was one of the tracks laid. We sent it to Machel after and he added his part,” said Konshens.
This is the third time that Konshens has worked with Major Lazer. The group did a remix of Gal A Bubble in 2013. He is featured on a remix of Partynextdoor’s recent hit Run Up, also produced by Major Lazer.
