Ding Dong and Aidonia, were among a stellar line up of Caribbean powerhouse acts for Magnum Xplosion. The Magnum Xplosion stage show series served as the official launch of the brand in Guyana, and will move through the Caribbean, bringing the very best in regional talent to the stage in separate territories.
The line-up included Guyanese local acts Jomo, Timeka Marshall, Determined and Fusion, in addition to the Trinidadian ‘Soca Viking,’ Bunji Garlin. The standout performances of the night however belonged to the Dancehall acts, as both Ding Dong and Aidonia served up exceptional sets leaving the crowd of over 3,200 patrons clamouring for more. Before performing one of the most memorable sets of his career, Ding Dong, accompanied by his Ravers Clavers team members: Bravo, Silent and Kool Ravers were opened for by the Jamaican disc jockey duo of Dj Scrappy and Antsman. The selectors in true ‘yard style’ moved the audience through several quick selections earning “money pull up” after another before handing the reigns over to team Ravers.
Audience interaction was a game changer for Magnum Tonic Wine Caribbean Ambassador, Ding Dong, who after having several audience members on stage, breached the barricades and crossed into the general section where he was immediately met by adoring fans. His audience romp was short lived as Ding Dong returned to the stage to perform crowd favorites; “Shoulder Fling,” “Flairy,”and “Genna Bounce.”
“Music and dance is my life and I try to give that to the audience every time I perform. Everyone will either connect to the dances or sing along with the music but. I’m not a boring artist, so the crowd can’t be boring. Ding Dong is energy, Magnum is energy and now Guyana has the energy” said Ding Dong.
Aidonia did not disappoint as headliner, capping a show that covered all the major bases. The dancehall frontrunner performed a full 45-minute set including current hits “Yeah Yeah” and “Breeze.” The artiste was joined on stage by the Magnum Tonic Wine Vixens, who further amplified his performance with gravity-defying dance moves. After a few minutes on stage, Aidonia also crossed into the audience, first mingling with fans in the general section, and then VIP and stage-front areas.
“I couldn’t be happier to come out and represent for dancehall and fans in this way. We had to do it for them. Big up to Magnum for making all of this possible. The brand tagline says Tek Chargeand we definitely did that in Guyana tonight,” shared Aidonia.
The Magnum Xplosion regional concert tour moves next to Barbados on April 22. The show slated for Pirates Cove, Bay Street, and will feature, Shenseea, Aidonia, Ding Dong and Dj Puffy with a slew of other local acts.
