5 qualify for final of the Mackeson DJ Competition.

Five young and upcoming DJs have made it through to the finals of the Mackeson DJ’s Competition.

In the first preliminary round of the ANSA McAL sponsored event held at the New Amsterdam Basketball Court Saturday night, 20 DJs entered seeking a chance to make it to the finals.

At the end, Dillon Crawford, Jermaine Solomon, Ryan Byrne, Vhaun Outar, and Kishon Trotz were judged as the top five. Persistent rain did not adversely affect the event.

Spectators braved the rainy night to witness the competition which was well attended. After an early evening shower, many youngsters gathered on the tarmac to get a view and hear from some of the upcoming DJs.

At 22:00h, rain did little to deter persons from remaining at the arena despite there were only two tents to protect several hundreds. Many took the opportunity to have fun in the rain as they eagerly awaited the judges’ decision which came sometime after 01:00h.

Meanwhile, the Linden round of the competition, which was postponed from last weekend, will be held with the Georgetown round on Friday. Lindeners will be competing in a separate category. Friday’s event will be held on the tarmac of the National Cultural Centre.
