Guyana ready for Alka & Udit

On Sunday Guyanese will witness one of the most spectacular concerts to be held in Guyana featuring renowned Bollywood playback singers, Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan.

The concert is billed for the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, East Bank Demerara on Sunday May 5. The event is planned by the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabah in commemoration of the 175th anniversary of Indian Arrival in Guyana.

The playback singers are expected to be accompanied by a full band of musicians out of Mumbai and have been working on putting together a special collection of songs to thrill their fans. They are expected to arrive in Guyana on Sunday morning.

Udit Narayan Jha, popularly known as Udit Narayan, has sung over 1200 songs for Hindi Films. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri by the government of India.
He has sung for numerous blockbuster films like “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”, “Dil to Pagal Hai”, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Hum Saath Saath Hain”: “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” and many others.

Described as the melody queen, Alka Yagnikis is amongst the best-known playback singers of Hindi cinema. Some of her popular songs include “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Dil ne yehKaha–Dhadkan”, “O re Chori”, “Kahona Pyaar hai” and “Baazigar o Baazigar”.
All proceeds from the concert will be used towards the construction of the Sabha’s Children’s Shelter “BalNivas” in Ankerville, Berbice. The concert will also feature a number of top local artistes including the Dharmic Nritya Sangh, Sookrane Boodhoo, Suchitra Rampersaud, Rekha Singh, Mona Gowkarran and many others.

Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early so that they don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to see both of these fabulous artistes performing together in Guyana.

There are three categories of tickets available – General seating tickets cost $2500, VIP reserved seating cost $5000 and VVIP all inclusive tickets cost $20,000. Stadium parking tickets cost $1000 and are also on sale.
