Sean Paul goes on tour in Europe

Sean Paul goes on tour in Europe with new band Badda Bandz and dancers in support of his fifth studio album titled Tomahawk Technique, starting this month.

Sean Paul, at a time that artistes are cutting back on their travel party and choosing to perform to tracks, especially in overseas markets, is maintaining the quality that the band brings to a performance.

“The backing band helps to give my performance a different feel. I can do spur of the moment interacting with the crowd without being concerned about missing a beat. Performing on track restricts me to sticking within a specific arrangement,” Paul said.

The Badda Bandz highlights the expertise of Sean Paul through the diverse background of its members. Band members’ interpretation of the artiste’s music provides a dynamic mix of sounds that jells to provide superb accompaniment to one of Jamaica’s most accomplished artistes.

Sean Paul’s European tour kicks off in Bern, Switzerland, on Friday, May 17, then goes on to Lisbon, Portugal, the following day. Two days later, he is expected to stop in Cannes, France. The artiste then performs at 10 shows in Germany between May 23 and June 3. The Germany shows begin with the artiste performing in Dusseldorf on May 23 and ends in Munich on June 3. Other German cities that will be treated to the dancehall superstar include Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. He concludes his tour on Saturday, June 8, in Birrfeld, Switzerland.

Sean Paul’s Tomahawk Technique album sold almost 250,000 copies outside of the United States. It is certified gold in France and Switzerland. The album also was a monster hit in countries such as Switzerland, France, Qatar, Korea, Germany, Austria, and Lebanon.

2.6 million copies

The album also peaked at number one in France, number two in Germany and Switzerland, number three in Austria and Japan, and number 10 in the United Kingdom on iTunes. Sean Paul’s singles such as Got 2 Luv U and She Doesn’t Mind have sold over 2.6 million copies each.

The artiste recently added to his plethora of successes through his collaboration with girl group The Saturdays, a song titled What About Us. The single gained him the accolade of being the first and only Jamaican artiste to have over 20 singles in the top 10 positions on the United Kingdom’s Pop Singles chart. What About Us peaked in the #1 position on the chart and sold over 114,000 copies in the first week of sales.

Tomahawk Technique was released through Atlantic Records (Warner Music Group) on January 24, 2012, and was later released on September 18, 2012, in the United States. The Tomahawk Technique album follows the artiste’s 2009 Imperial Blaze album, which earned Sean Paul a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae album. The album features other artistes, including Kelly Roland, Alexis Jordan, Ammo, and Future Fambo with a mix of dancehall, dance-pop, hip hop, and R&B genres.
