Kartel was not beaten

Kartel’s Lawyer has dismissed claims that his high-profile client Vybz Kartel was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital last week because he was beaten in a prison fight.

“No. No. No. There was no fight in prison,” said Tavares-Finson yesterday.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, was rushed to hospital last Thursday complaining of chest pains. Tavares-Finson said at the time that his client had been suffering the pains for some time.

“The pain in his chest became more serious and they had to take him to the hospital,” the attorney said then.

However, word started circulating that the controversial artiste had been in a fight and was struck in the chest.

The entertainer, who is charged along with others for two separate murders, has been behind bars since his arrest in late September 2011.

He is charged with the 2011 beating death of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams at a house in Havendale, St Andrew, and the shooting death of Barrington ‘Bossy’ Bryan in Gregory Park, St Catherine.

He and several co-accused, which include his Gaza Empire stablemate Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, are to be tried in November for Williams’ murder.
