‘Burning Flames’ added to Jamzone lineup

Largely recognized in recent months for the release of ‘Kick Een She Back Doh’, members of veteran soca band Burning Flames are flying high and will be touching down at the Guyana National Stadium for the much anticipated Jamzone Summer Break Regional Concert.

Lead singer Toriano ‘Onyan’ Edwards and band members David Edwards and George Mussington will be performing live on August 16 alongside Jamaican artists Konshens and Busy Signal as well as Trinidadian crossover band Karma.

The band was originally formed in 1984 in St. John and their music is influenced by calypso, reggae, raga, funk and zou.

Burning Flames was made popular after they appeared at the Antiguan Road March carnival in 1985 with their song ‘Stiley Tight’ which was issued as their debut single the following year. The band reached international success in 1989 with ‘Workey Workey’ which was later covered by Byron Lee & the Dragonaires’. They later signed for Mango Records in 1991 and released the album ‘Dig’.

This band is known for hit songs like ‘Raw Sole, ‘Green Bush’ and ‘Papi’.

The Jamzone committee is pleased to welcome Burning Flames to its lineup on this year’s roster.
