GFW IS Inspired by Water’s Sustainable Properties

Guyana Fashion Weekend (GFW) begins the second phase of its action plan, having charged itself back in 2007 with the mission of activating the local fashion fraternity, all in an effort, to identify the economic potential and viability of a fashion industry.
GFW’s executive is made up of dynamic and hard-working members who  render this non-profit organization well equipped to deliver efficient and professional leadership in the execution of its  mission.
The vision of the new phase is to continue developing the product, Guyana Fashion Weekend By firstly transforming the event to a week-long activity, facilitating economic development, entrepreneurial opportunity and fashion sector industrial growth. These goals would be pursued through activities/events aimed at increasing the visibility of fashion commerce, nurturing the local talent and creating new outlets for accessing intra-regional and international markets. GFW 2013 would continue to provide the strategic and essential platform, pivotal in the branding of our unique Caribbean style, while creating opportunities for cross sector co-operation through corporate investment and partnerships.
 The upcoming GFW 2013 carded for October 22-27, is the sixth event of its kind, serving as part of GFW’s ongoing commitment to effectively advance creative and technological development in the industry meanwhile fortifying regional alliances in the pursuit of integrating systems through implementing international ‘best practice’ standards. This year is the first since the event has become a biennial festival.
The executive aims towards the development of the fashion industry as an area of immense creative and financial potential; a vision endorsed by the Government’s mandate to promote economic diversification and encourage sustainable development initiatives.The launch is schedule for the 4th of August at Herdmonstan Lodge where patrons will experience an evening of Jazz,fashion and art display.
The GFW 2013 designers and models will be introduce to the public by a special choreograph display.Food art at its best will be introduce by Kester Robinson who attended  Carnegie was the 1st runner-up in Cutting Style a few years ago at Duke Logde.
 In 2010 Kerter took my first study tour to complete a course in Wedding Planning and Décor at the University of the West Indies Open Campus and a certificate in Cake Decorating at the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism and Hospitality Institute in Trinidad.He  had no idea this would have been the turning point, his skills were admired and recommended to two companies. He took the better offer and started my first job as a pastry Chef Intern, this opportunity was fully exploited and heproved himself, becoming Chef in charge of all desserts and named the best Pastry Chef the Restaurant has ever had in its thirty five years plus in existence with a 4 star Status.decorator.decorator .
One of his recent show piece entitled “mustique” as part of a final practical Examination for the Speciality and Novelty Cakes course gained recognition in two main news prints and many online Medias as the first replica of a life size standing guitar in Trinidad and Tobago. Over the years his work has been featured in Magazines, Local and regional news prints, online medias

The culinary arts and visual arts will be a big part of GFW this.The work of well know Guyanese Artist Merlene Ellis and young Andy Cummings ceramics vase collection will be exhibited.
“I have so much respect  for Merlene who in my opinion is super talented and i am elated that she will be part of the launch this year.The the launch has always been invitation only but this year we have a limited number of tickets available to the public.”
The launch promises to be a elegant affair in a creative atmosphere that will set the pace for the other GFW events to following.Excellent branding opportunities  for companies and major partnerships  for this year Guyana Fashion Week.
