Ex Miss Jamzone wins 2013 Miss Universe Jamaica competition

Kerrie Baylis, a 24-year-old investment banker, walked away as the winner of the 2013 Miss Universe Jamaica competition last Saturday night at a private boutique show at Jewel Dunn’s River. Baylis was also Miss Jamaica World 2009 and Guyana’s Miss Jamzone International 2012 which is hosted by Hits and Jams.

Kerrie Baylis,beat 10 rivals in the Uzuri International-promoted event. Baylis will represent Jamaica at the Miss Universe final in Russia, on November 6. Completing the top five were Chantal Davis, Salomie Campbell, Monique Brady, and Kashema Scarlett.

Baylis is the fourth woman to take the Miss Jamaica/Universe double having been preceded by Sandra Foster, Christine Straw and Yendi Phillips.

Phillips has been Jamaica’s highest placed Miss Universe contestant to date, finishing second in 2010.

On Sunday, sectional prizes went to Baylis for Most Aware and Best in Swimsuit and Salomie Campbell for Best in Evening Wear.
