Megan Young of the Phillipines won the 63rd Miss World beauty pageant Saturday in the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
Jamaica’s Gina Hargitay, one of the pre-contest favourites, made it into the top 10.
The top five finishers on Saturday were Miss Philippines, Miss Brazil, Miss France, Miss Ghana and Miss Spain.
The contest was staged amid tight security at the new location. Organisers had decided on an alternate venue following protests by Muslim extremists.
The new Miss World will spend the next year travelling to represent the Miss World Organization and help raise money for its charitable causes.
