Tessanne Chin in battle round

Tessanne Chin immediately made herself a force to be reckoned with on The Voice with a chill-inducing audition in September. Now, she faces very formidable competition as she begins her journey to the title.

Tessanne has been paired with veteran pop singer, Donna Allen in the much-anticipated battle rounds, known for several top ten hits on the U.K. Singles Chart and Billboard’s Hot Dance/Club Play Chart in the U.S., made a comeback on The Voice with her rendition of You Are So Beautiful and, like Tessanne, chose to be coached by Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine.

Now two of the early favorites in the competition will square off in the battle round, where they will together perform a rendition of Emeli Sande’s Next To Me. In a preview video released this weekend, Chin and Allen unsurprisingly rise to the occasion and give very strong renditions of the song, to mass approval from the studio audience.

Levine must now choose between the two songbirds who he wants to advance to the knockout round. Should either Chin or Allen not be chosen to advance, competing coaches, Christina Aguilera, Cee’Lo Green or Blake Shelton could elect to take them on as they are each allowed two steals, meaning they can take two singers eliminated by their fellow coaches.
