After months of planning and preparation, TravelSpan & Vision Airlines today officially launched its inaugural flight between the New York and Georgetown routes when the aircraft landed at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
Over 229 passengers arrived on the Inaugural flight from New York on Saturday morning.
The company says that all of its flights coming from New York before Christmas are sold out. According to TravelSpan’s President & CEO, “TravelSpan is very enthusiastic and excited for the opportunity to serve the Guyana. We are thankful and overwhelmed by the support that the Guyanese people have shown TravelSpan.”
The company expects that its full flight loads will continue to be reflective of the Guyanese
people’s support of TravelSpan.
The introductory fare of $647 USD, tax inclusive, for a round trip from Georgetown to New
York and $349 USD, tax inclusive, for a one way fare will continue.
TravelSpan already has flights scheduled in their system until September 2014 for the Guyana route; the schedule for the remainder of 2014 will be added by the end of December 2013.
The flights will depart John F Kennedy International Airport for Guyana on Thursdays and
Saturdays and with additional flights added just for the holiday and peak season.
TravelSpan and Vision Airlines were granted permission by the US Department of
Transportation and the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to operate a non-stop service between the New York and Georgetown Route earlier this year.
TravelSpan is no stranger to Guyana and is a leader in the Caribbean travel industry. They have served these markets for decades and now recognize the need for a new carrier to operate.
