Guyanese Simeon Hardy to fight at Barclay’s Center

“Some people are dreamers and others are doers and I’d like to think that I’m a doer who is on my way to greatness despite my past misfortunes and unfortunate childhood.” So says US based Guyanese boxer/Singer Simeon Candy-man Hardy.

After making his name in Guyana as the Chin-checker in the local boxing fraternity he migrated just over a year ago to the United States of America in pursuit of becoming more than just a world rated Guyanese boxer but more of a world champion.

Now at age 26 he says, “The dream is becoming a reality.” In fact the middle weight who has fought 11 fights of which eight were Knock Outs and is on a card representing Brooklyn slated for June 14 as well as his name sake female junior featherweight Heather Hardy who has won 9 fights of which 2 were Knock outs. The Nights headliner fight under the Barclays Center and Banner Promotions will feature the WBO Jnr. welterweight title champion Ruslan “The Siberian Rocky” Provodnikov of Beryozovo, Russia and Chris Algieri of Huntington, Long Island. The fight will take place Saturday night, June 14, and will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark. Provodnikov – Algieri will headline a championship night of boxing.

A strong under card will include the WBC Continental America’s Light Heavyweight championship bout between Seanie “Irish” Monaghan of Long Beach, Long Island against an opponent to be named. In addition the card will include the first professional woman’s fight at Barclays Center featuring Heather “The Heat” Hardy of Brooklyn.

In preparation for the under card fight this Friday night in the United States Hardy has been working hard at it constantly training and sparring with some of the best. At the time of this interview he has recently completed interviews for a fight at Barclays Center on HBO’s Boxing after Dark series.

He informed us “I was introduced to the world officially via media as a prelude to Friday’s night I have a fight at the Turning Stone Casino.” But that’s just the beginning of great things for this Guyanese kid as part of his schedule is a fight at Barclays on June 14, 2014.

Repeating his story the youth who hails from South Sophia who fathered one son says I’m in the USA one year now chasing the life I’ve been dreaming about since I was a little boy. Of being officially to the world he says “It’s an overwhelming feeling… I’ve heard people speak of having butterflies but I think I had eagles in my stomach today. One year ago I was just dreaming of being in the position I’m in and by making this possible with all the prayers and blessing I’m having I’m on the quest for greatness I don’t just want to make it. He has actually proclaimed himself‪#‎BestInTheWorld‬ or the King. “I’m not conceited it’s just how I feel about myself and aside from all the nice words I’ve heard I’ve learned that your best motivator aside from God I motivate myself.” He says he’s a business man who believes that it comes down to hard work and many sacrifices to achieve and it’s simple…Conceive, believe, sacrifice and pray plus put in the work with a goal and the things you receive are the payoff for the things you give up.” Aside from the boxing progression Hardy is also constantly in Studio under the DP Records.

As if boxing is not enough Guyanese boxer/ singer Simeon Candy Man Hardy is on a roll. he is due to go on tour as a singer with Jon Connor who is signed to the Aftermath music Label. He recently completed a collaboration song with Hip Hop artiste Mokablast and Jon connor this month (April) and the video shoot is in process which would be followed by the official release of the song. and from what I’ve heard theirs much more happening as it relates to Hardy and his music career as he has several videos set for release even as he’s doing voice training too.
