Twenty-three-year-old Stacy Ramcharan was on Tuesday evening crowned Miss Earth Guyana 2014 at a coronation ceremony held at the Umana Yana, Georgetown.
The beauty is slated to represent Guyana on the international stage in Muntinlupa, Philippines in November.
The ceremony was attended by a number of present and past beauty queens including Miss Guyana Universe 2013 Katherina Roshana; Miss Guyana Talented Teen 2013 Tiffani Bonner; and Miss World Guyana 2013 Ruqayyah Boyer.
They all took the opportunity to wish the newly-crowned Miss Earth the best of luck.
A nervous and emotional Ramcharan vowed to make Guyana proud on the international stage by winning the internationally acclaimed title.
The aspiring accountant was selected, since she was a citizen of Guyana between the ages of 18 and 26, who was between five feet, five inches and six feet tall, with a proportional figure, beautiful face, and outgoing personality.
She will dedicate her reigning year to promoting specific projects and addressing environmental and other global issues through school tours, tree-planting activities, street campaigns, coastal clean-ups and other environmental activities.
Miss Earth is one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to select participants and one of the most publicized beauty contests worldwide. It focuses on raising awareness on environmental and global issues.
