Hits and Jams Entertainment (HJ), through the Keem Foundation, made several donations in keeping with the promise made to support sports in Guyana at the ‘Day of Sports’ event hosted by HJ.
Chief Executive Officer, Rawle Ferguson, made the announcement to promote sports by contributing to its development through schools and local sports clubs. This promise was not forgotten and on Thursday, May 08, 2014, the HJ family made its first set of donations toward this undertaking.
Donations:
1. (1) Table Tennis Set – Campbellville Secondary School
2. (1) Table Tennis Set – St. Joseph High School
3. Mercury Fast Laners Track and Field Club – $200,000.00
4. Beacon Football Club – $90,000 for sneakers
The Keem Foundation umbrella is a fund which started following the story of six-year-old Zeniha Loo who was diagnosed with a brain tumor that left her unable to walk, eat or speak. Her parents, Roger Loo and Natase Mc Calman, had appealed to the public for assistance in raising funds to have the child undergo surgery.
Hits and Jams Entertainment had supported this cause and developed the ‘Zeniha Telethon’. However, despite these efforts, little Zeniha subsequently succumbed to the tumor.
This cause is held close to the hearts of the HJ team, especially our CEO, who developed the foundation in honour of his late son, Rakeem Rahul Alphonso Ferguson, who passed away after a battle with leukemia at the tender age of 10.
With funds raised all year round, inclusive of donations from Corporate Guyana and other persons, coupled with material contributions from companies and individuals, HJ utilizes Rakeem’s memory to give back to children and families all year round.
